Welcome to The Thrifty Trainer!

April 20th, 2010

A special welcome to everyone from the eLearning DevCon 2010! Those of you hoping for the presentation, please have patience, I promise it will be posted by close of business Thursday (June 17).

I’ve spent years developing instructional curriculum, and I’ve spent thousands (in company funds) of dollars on software to facilitate that development. I’ve also been on the other side of the fence, struggling as a private contractor to purchase or obtain software for use in curriculum development. It’s time for a change…and time to keep yours!

To that end, I’ve created this repository just for those of us who develop training content. Some do it for commercial businesses, some for educational institutions. All of you do it on a budget. Few of you have a budget as flexible as you’d like it to be.

Save money without sacrificing your ability to create powerful and meaningful training content.

NOTE: We are NOT talking about pirated software. You want help stealing software, go somewhere else

It's like free money!

Wild idea? Not really. Just practical. There are thousands of developers, hundreds of companies, and millions of users all taking advantage of freeware and open source software right now!

Get onboard. Check out the resources in this website. Find me some more, and let me know what you think of them all. I’ll share those results with everyone, so we all win!
